Bang Bang – From Stage to Screen Now on NBC2

The National Theatre of Namibia (NTN), in partnership with the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), is proud to bring Bang Bang to television screens across Namibia through a national broadcast on NBC 2.

Following its successful theatre run at the NTN Auditorium in April 2026, where the production reached more than 1,700 learners, teachers and members of the public, Bang Bang will now be broadcast every Tuesday and Thursday at 16h00 from 16 June to 26 November 2026.

Written by Chris Djuma (RSA) and directed by local theatre-maker Veronique Kuchekana-Chirau, Bang Bang forms part of the Grade 8 English Second Language prescribed literature curriculum.

Set in a neighbourhood shaped by poverty, crime and violence, the play follows children whose games involving toy guns reflect the realities of the world around them. What begins as play gradually reveals how violence becomes normalised and absorbed into everyday life.

Performed in English, the production uses performance and storytelling to support literature learning and give learners the opportunity to engage with prescribed texts in a more accessible and memorable way.

This national television broadcast extends the reach of the Prescribed Text Programme beyond the theatre and into homes and classrooms, ensuring that learners across Namibia can benefit from curriculum-supporting educational theatre regardless of location.

Schools, educators and parents are encouraged to support learner participation by creating opportunities for learners to tune in and engage with the production throughout the broadcast period.
