The National Theatre of Namibia and the UNAM Performing Arts Section of the University of Namibia (UNAM) are proud to present the 2024 UNAM Performing Arts Showcase Week. The UNAM Performing Arts Showcase affords students the chance to present their work on a professional stage and therefore challenges them to set up and maintain a certain calibre of quality, excellence, creativity and integrity in the work they do.
Scheduled for October 4-5 at the NTN Backstage, the 2024 Performing Arts Showcase Week will highlight the top-performing students across Drama, Dance, Movement, and Music. This dynamic two-day event will feature headlining productions each day, offering audiences a diverse array of performances. In addition to the showcases, there will be free public workshops conducted by the section’s esteemed lecturers:
- Exploring Viewpoints in Theatre Acting by Dr. Nashilongweshipwe Mushaandja
- Audition Etiquette for Stage Actors by Ms. Sepiso Mwange
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The UNAM Performing Arts and Visual Arts Section established in 1982 and previously known as the School of the Arts, comprises of the drama, music and visual arts courses. The department has produced some of Namibia’s best theatre makers and performers. Furthermore, it has continued to produce award winning works and has created strong links with industry for Industrial Theatre in Namibia.
Tickets are available at N$ 50 at the door, per day. The showcases are limited to audiences older than 14 years of age.
