Blended Voices – A Namibian Choral Celebration

Prepare for an unforgettable musical showdown at the inaugural Choral Competition hosted by the National Theatre of Namibia (NTN) as part of NTN’s Main Program. This exciting event will showcase the incredible talent of seven exceptional choirs from across Namibia as they compete for the prestigious title, a cash prize of N$50,000 and the coveted floating trophy.

Competition Format & Judging Criteria

Choirs are invited to participate in a competition challenging them to reimagine contemporary Namibian songs through choral arrangements. The competition will only feature top five choirs, who after the initial audition phase will be chosen based on their audition. The choirs will then advance to the competition.

The competition will unfold in three rounds all choirs will perform the same prescribed song in the first round. And in the second and third rounds will feature choirs performing contemporary songs selected from a pre-determined list.

These finalists will be judged by an external panel of choral music experts. Judging criteria will include intonation, diction, choir etiquette, technique and accuracy, and overall musicality. While SATB (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass) formations are encouraged, variations are permitted to enhance the performance. Choirs are not required to provide sheet music.

Competition Highlights:

Grand Prize: N$50,000 & A floating trophy

Second Prize: N$30,000

Third Prize: N$20, 000
