Rising stars Kareyce from Cameroon and Bholoja from Swaziland are on a 16-country-tour through Africa, stopping over in Windhoek to perform at the National Theatre of Namibia (NTN) on Wednesday, 24 March. The double act will entice audiences with Kareyce’s powerful renditions of acoustic Afro folk and Bholoja’s very own brand of Swazi Soul. The concert takes place in the intimate atmosphere of NTN’s backstage area. Tickets are limited; this show is not to be missed!  BHOLOJA’s music is an intriguing blend of afro-pop, traditional music and afro-blues. Gifted with a multi-coloured, intrepid voice and a talent for writing songs that reflect on the daily life and unique culture of the people of his homeland, Bholoja (aka Mbongiseni Ngubane) is one of Swaziland’s greatest artists. His blending of Southern African traditions, including mbira, sitolotolo and the traditional drumming styles, has created an unique sound that become known as Swazi Soul.  KAREYCE, billed as the new rising star of Afro Folk, was born in Bamikele country  in Cameroon and was raised among Beti people. During her residency “Visas for Creation” in France from May to July 2009, Kareyce Fotso worked under Francois Kokelaere’s artistic direction. He, among others, directed the National Drum Ensemble of Guinea and gave the opportunity to the Guinean band Wofa to perform all over the world. From this meeting was born a solo show where Kareyce, accompanied by her guitar, offers sweet melodies, bluesy or faster paced, emphasizing the astounding scale of her voice. It’s a powerful, original, and slightly husky voice in the line of blues and African tradition. Playing in turn with a sanza, wooden drums or percussions, her songs are sometimes deep, sometimes funny, but always carry a lot of emotion.   Tickets are limited, this show is not to be missed!!!
