Ballet Fantasy will be based on three stories namely:

  1. Alice in Wonderland Fantasy:  This is a well known and beloved story adapted into a charming short ballet that will appeal to both young and old.

  1. The Sylph- this story is based on the ballet “La Sylphide”, meaning The Sylph.  This is a story about a young Scottish peasant who is haunted by the vision of a beautiful Sylph whom he can never grasp.  On the day of his wedding, he gives in to temptation and follows the Sylph into the woods leaving behind his heart broken fiancée.

In the woods a witch, whom he has previously angered- and her coven of witches, poison a silken scarf.  She gives this to the young man telling him that it will help him to catch the Sylph.

The Sylph desires the scarf, but when it is placed around her shoulders she looses her wings and dies.  This is a very beautiful ballet depicting the forces of good and evil.

  1. The Sleeping beauty- this is a ballet based on the age old story beloved by all.

Guest Soloists:

  1. Steven Van Wyk- Is a student at the University of Cape Town and also performed in last year’s ballet production of the College “The Nutcracker”.  Steven performs regularly in ballet productions of the Cape Town City Ballet.

  1. Zaandre du Toit-  A former students at the College, Zaandre is now a full time student at  UCT. He also had a leading role in last year’s ballet production “The Nutcracker”.

  1. Brownywn Tar-She is also a full time student at UTC and has previously taken part in the College ballet productions such as Ballet Glimpses and The Nutcracker.
