Storyline:The National Theatre of Namibia (NTN) in partnership with The Namibia Film Commission (NFC) is proud to announce the Nominations for the 2017 Namibian Theatre & Film Awards, set to take place on Saturday, 25 March 2017, at the National Theatre of Namibia.
This bi-annual event honours and recognizes the work and contributions made by theatre and film practitioners to the Performing Arts. Today we have an opportunity to recognise and celebrate those who help us to tell our stories.
There has been a phenomenal growth in the quality of entries this year in comparison to the 2014 awards.
Namibian theatre and film have made it possible for our actors and directors to make a unified transition between the two genres. This is an encouraging development for this robust sector; as these practitioners increasingly get job and skills development opportunities growing it into an economically viable industry.
Adjudicators for Theatre:
An adjudication panel consisting of four Individuals from the Performing Arts industry judged theatre plays by independent producers as well as by the National Theatre of Namibia over a 2 year and half year period. (2015 – 2017). They attend this productions and score them accordingly. This scores are verified by and independent auditor.
Adjudicators for Film:
Entries for films and music videos were submitted for judging for the 2017 Awards. The judging and selection process was overseen by a competent jury and verified accordingly by an independent auditor.
These nominees will be awarded at an official and glamorous Award Ceremony, which will take place on Saturday, the 25th of March 2017 at the National Theatre of Namibia.
The event is attended by Invitation only; however, the public will have an opportunity to watch the event on NBC 1 TV on Sunday the 26th of March 2017.
